How to Change Oil on 2008 - 2013 Chevrolet Traverse
Required Materials:
- OEM Oil filter
- 6 quarts of 5W-30 motor oil
- Jack and jack stands
- 15-millimeter socket
- Oil drain pan
Performing the oil change:
- Park the Chevrolet Traverse on leveled ground. Let the car sit for about 20 minutes for the engine to cool down.
- Open the hood, locate the oil cap and remove it.
- Lift the front end of the vehicle by using a floor jack and then place it on jack stands.
- Get under the vehicle and locate the oil drain bolt. It is usually located on the front end of the engine.
- Place a drain pan and then remove the oil drain bolt. Make sure that the old oil is going into the oil pan.
- Let it drain for about 10-15 minutes and then reinstall the drain bolt.
- Remove the old oil filter and install a new OEM oil filter.
- Remove the jack stands and slowly lower your Traverse.
- Pour 6 quarts of 5W-30 motor oil into the engine and reinstall the oil cap once done.
- Start the engine and turn it off after 1 minute.
- Measure the level of the oil after 10 – 15 minutes. Pour more if needed.
