How to Change Oil on 2005 - 2015 Ford Mustang
Required Materials:
- Oil filter
- 5 quarts of full synthetic 5W-30 motor oil
- Jack and jack stands
- 13 millimeter wrench
- Oil drain pan
Performing the oil change:
- Park the Ford Mustang on a leveled ground.
- Open the hood, locate and remove the oil cap.
- Lift the front end of your vehicle.
- Locate the oil drain bolt and loosen it using a 13-millimeter wrench. There isn’t enough clearance for a socket.
- Place an oil drain pan underneath so you can catch the old engine oil.
- Completely remove the drain bolt and let the old engine oil drain into the drain pan.
- Once the oil is completely drained, reinstall the oil drain bolt using the 13-millimeter wrench.
- Locate and remove the old oil filter. It is visible for both the top and the bottom of the vehicle.
- Install the new oil filter. Make sure to lubricate the new oil filter before installing it.
- Remove the jack stands and lower the Ford Mustang.
- Pour 5 quarts of full synthetic 5W-30 motor oil into the engine and reinstall the oil cap once done.
- Start the engine and check the oil level.
